Title: Cannibal Holocaust
Release Date: 1979
Rated: R / 18
Cast: Robert Kerman, Francesca Ciardi, Luca Barbareschi, Perry Pirkanen, Salvatore Basile, Ricardo Fuentes
Warning: This film contains very strong scenes of violence and mutilation.
I came across this film on a second hand video stall along with a selection of other horror videos.
They had the appearance of a typical B movie from directors and actors you have never heard of and never will again, but upon watching Cannibal Holocaust it was like holy nuts this film should be an A movie for it's era.
Anyway on with a run down of the film.
It all starts in the US with a group of ego headed film makers come reporters who set out to find a lost tribe in the South American jungle. Upon there arrival into the jungle they find two tribes, both of which the filmmakers exploit to the best of there film making abilities. Things start to go drastically wrong when the tribes turn on there exploiters and begin their own method of torture. Only a University Professor finds out the horrific truth about what really happened when he decides to follow them in the jungle and reclaim the lost film footage after reports of the young film makers disappearance.
This video is a hard one to pick up if you are actually out looking for it, i only came across it out of shear luck. It will be well worth the money if you can get hold of a copy.
Cannibal Holocaust would have to be placed at the top of my favorite horror films of all time. I give this film the full 5 star rating it deserves.
